Align text in a Pages document

(A text frame is similar to a text box in QuarkXPress and a text block in Adobe PageMaker.) There are two types of text frames: frame grids and plain text frames. Frame grids are the kind of text frames specific to Asian-language composition in which character emboxes and spacing are displayed as grids. Click the Format tab, and then under Text Box, click Change text alignment within the text box. Click the alignment option that you want. Here's how I'd do it In Word 2007 (Windows) To center text horizontally: 1. Right-click on it and select Paragraph. In the Alignment list box, select Centered. Click on the box next to the 'Lock anchor' field so that it's selected. Click on the 'OK' button. Move your cursor about the text box. Click on the 'Insert' option from the top toolbar menu and then click on the 'Break' option if you're using Word 2003. Highlight the text you want to center. If you already have text in the document, the first thing you must do is highlight it. Put the mouse cursor at the start of the text you want to center. Click and hold the left mouse button. Move the cursor to the end of the text you want to highlight. The text should now be bordered by a transparent blue box.

You can adjust paragraphs in a page, column, table cell, text box, or shape so that text is aligned to the left or right, centered, or aligned on both the left and right (justified).

You can also align text vertically in a text box, shape, or a table cell, column, or row.

Select any portion of the text or click a text box or a shape with text; if you’re working in a table, click a table cell or select a row or column.
In the Format sidebar, click the Style button near the top.
If the text is in a text box, table, or shape, first click the Text tab at the top of the sidebar, then click the Style button.
In the Alignment section, click the alignment buttons you want.

To apply these changes to all of the paragraphs in your document that use this paragraph style, click the Update button next to the paragraph style name at the top of the sidebar.
